Western Window Systems' Series 3600 Vinyl Multi-Slide Door was one of the biggest product launches in company history. But before it was officially introduced in January, it went through a massive development process that, thanks to employees like Ramon Morales, stayed successfully on track.
“What was amazing was that Ramon visualized how the vinyl area would work before we ever built anything,” says Western Window Systems product performance manager Melchor Ordaz. “His layout ensured the flow of the product stayed consistent and that no bottlenecks occurred.”
Morales, who began his career with Western Window Systems in 2011, started in the company's window department. Prior to his position as vinyl department lead, Morales was the lead for the insulated glass area, where he developed a new process of inspecting glass that reduced back orders.
Ordaz adds that Morales' prior experience in manufacturing vinyl windows was instrumental in moving the Series 3600 through manufacturing.
“I had to lean on Ramon several times when we got our four-point welder,” says Ordaz. “I would set it up and he'd give me input on how he used to run his. After that, we were able to dial in the welder to our profiles. To this day, I still ask his advice.”
Congratulations to Ramon Morales, Western Window Systems' lean problem solver for May.
