Western’s Series 600 Window Wall is a versatile 4.50” deep framing system designed to achieve large expanses of glass. The desired ventilation and egress is easily achieved by integrating any of our sliding or hinged window and door products. Our Series 100 operating and Series 700 hinged windows insert neatly against the glazing leg, which is located at a dimension specific to their frame depth.
Our Series 900 hinged doors and Series 600 sliding doors have the same 4.50” frame depth as the Window Wall, allowing them to mate precisely creating a seamless appearance in any size opening.
A variety of extrusions are available to achieve just about any configuration desired. Our E510 T-bar is used to create true divided lites. E664 is a 1.75” member typically used to create a high base for floor materials to return to. E650 allows us to stack a transom directly over Series 600 sliding glass doors. The perimeter frame can be equal leg or with a nail fin located 1” in from the exterior. Fixed windows can be provided in almost any geometric configuration including arches, circles and multiple sided polygons. Frames for segmented butt glazing are a common application for Series 600 fixed windows. Fixed windows mounted in the structure on all four sides achieve a rating of F-C50 up to 60” X 120”. The F-C50 equates to a design pressure of 50 pounds per square foot, the equivalent of a 140 MPH wind speed.
With design criteria of 15 PSF (a wind velocity of 75 MPH) a window wall with multiple 48” wide panels can be provided up to 120” in height. When the verticals are reinforced with .375 X 4” steel the height can be increased up to 168.” Given your design criteria we will be happy to engineer the system to meet your specific project requirements.
Panels up to 40 square feet can be factory glazed into modules, then mulled in the field during installation. In most cases the entire system, including windows and doors integrated for ventilation and egress, can be completely manufactured and glazed in the factory. Factory glazing assures a weather tight assembly and saves expensive field labor.
The standard system can be glazed with materials from .1875” to 1.00” overall and can be modified to accommodate materials up to 4.50” thick. The standard snap-in glazing stops are for .1875”, .250”, .750”, .875” and 1.00”. Western’s window wall system can also be prepared to receive any hinged door in thicknesses up to 2.25” with almost any type of hanging hardware required including, continuous hinges, butt hinges, concealed overhead closers and various types of pivots.
