Series 600 Multi-Slide Specifications
General
Aluminum Multi-Slide doors shall be Series 600 as manufactured by Western Window Systems, 5621 South 25th Street , Phoenix , Arizona 85040-3628 . Option 660 can be specified for doors up to 108 in height and shall have a narrow 1.50 wide interlock stile. Option 630 can be specified for doors up to 144" in height and shall have a 2.55" wide interlock stile. All Multi-Slide doors shall be custom manufactured to the specific size and configuration for each application. The standard Water Barrier threshold provides a .75" water barrier, and is recommended for exterior applications. With the optional 1.125" water barrier, doors up to 96.00" in height conform to AAMA/NWWDA 101/I.S.2-97 Specification, SGD-R20, CAWM 300-96 "Forced Entry Resistance," NFRC 100-2001 for U-factor and NFRC 200-2001 for Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) and Visible Transmittance (VT). The Flush threshold traps and diverts water to the exterior, but will not prevent water penetration when a differential pressure exists between the inside and outside of the building. The "Thin-line" threshold imbeds flush with the floor and provides no water protection. Shop drawings shall be prepared for each job and approved by the customer prior to manufacturing. Western reserves the right to change specifications without notice.
Material
Aluminum extrusions shall be of commercial quality 6063-T5 alloy and temper. Component parts and accessories shall be of aluminum alloy, plated steel, stainless steel, or nonmetallic materials to resist deterioration and corrosion.
Construction
All frame and panel members shall be neatly fitted and mechanically joined using plated or stainless steel screws. Panel horizontal members shall be designed to nest with vertical members to eliminate daylight and shine from cut edge. Panel lead stiles and interlock stiles shall be full-hollow (tubular) extrusions. An extended leg on the bottom rail of all operating panels shall penetrate a weather-stripped channel in the threshold to eliminate the possibility of the panels being disengaged from the sill under wind loads. Pocket type doors shall be equipped with post interlock frame members at the interior and exterior of the pocket openings. The post interlock frame members shall be designed with an integral J-channel to receive interior and exterior wall finishes. All glazed panels shall be removable for re-glazing and maintenance.
Finish
Extruded aluminum members furnished from stock inventory shall be Warmtone tan paint or dark bronze anodized. Custom colors are available in both painted and anodized finishes. Unless otherwise specified, painted finishes on extruded aluminum frame and screen members shall conform to a minimum of AAMA 2604-02, "Specification for High Performance Organic Coatings on Aluminum Extrusions and Panels". Anodized finishes shall be a minimum of Class II.
Glazing
Insulating glass shall be DUO-PANE® as manufactured by Western Window Systems, and shall conform to ASTM E774-97 Specification for Sealed Insulating Glass. Units shall have a dual seal of polyisobutylene (P.I.B.) and silicone. Insulating glass shall be manufactured using 5mm (3/16") thick glass up to 40 square feet and 6mm (1/4") thick glass over 40 square feet, both with a minimum air gap of .50". Single pane glass, when specified, shall be supplied in 5mm (3/16") up to 32 square feet and 6mm (1/4") over 32 square feet. Insulating and single pane glass shall conform to ASTM Specification C1036-01, Standard Specification for Flat Glass. All glazing in doors shall be fully tempered or laminated. Laminated is only recommended for special applications up to 28 square feet.
Hardware
The lead sliding panel shall be equipped with a fully mortised locking mechanism with a plated steel case and adjustable hardened steel bolt and flush type interior and exterior pulls with a vertical slide button on the interior to operate the lock. Pulls are only available in a black painted finish. An optional cylinder lock with a 5 pin, Schlage, type C keyway is available. Each sliding panel shall be equipped with two tandem wheel assemblies containing ball bearing rollers with a diameter of 1.81. Door frame shall be equipped with a stainless steel adjustable strike and a replaceable stainless steel roller track cover. When stainless steel hardware package is specified, it shall include a stainless steel deadlock, stainless steel roller assemblies and stainless steel screws for assembly and installation.
Optional Screens
When specified, Multi-Slide screens shall be supplied to screen the entire opening. Screens shall be wired with 18 X 16 charcoal colored vinyl coated fiberglass mesh. The screen frame shall be constructed using the same basic members and hardware as the sliding glass panels.
Weather-Stripping
Weather-stripping in the head, threshold, interlock stiles and locking jamb shall be black woven polypropylene pile. Black extruded vinyl shall be used at the panel bottom rails and surrounding all glazing.
Installation
Installation shall be in accordance with published instructions by Western Window Systems, LLC
