Series 700 Casement Features - Western Window Systems

  • 2.81” frame depth allows our casements to mull to our 100 Series Horizontal Sliding and Single Hung Windows, as well as integrate into our 4.5” 600 Series Window Wall.
  • Casements hinge on the side and swing out. They are available in widths from 14” to 36” and heights from 14” to 84”.
  • Our 700 Series casement has been tested to a “Heavy Commercial” rating of C-HC40 which equates to a design pressure of 40 pounds-per-square foot, the equivalent of a wind speed of 125 MPH.
  • To ensure smooth, effortless operation of windows that are often as large as doors, we use butt hinges to mount the sash to the frame and a heavy-duty roto operator to control the degree of opening.
  • Casements from 24” to 84” in height are equipped with a concealed multi-point locking system actuated by an attractive low profile lever handle (which is narrow enough that it should never interfere with curtains or blinds.)
  • The multi-point lock reaches out as much as .5” to pull the sash into the closed position, sealing the sash against the compressed weather-stripping.
  • Operating hardware includes a folding crank that is painted to match the finish color of the window frames.
  • Arched casements are available in a standing seg configuration (an eyebrow with vertical legs). The minimum radius is 48”.
  • 700 Series Casement windows are also available with a raked head, sloped from the hinge side down, as long as the angle does not exceed 20 degrees and a pitch of approximately 4 in 12.

Series 700 Hopper Features - Western Window Systems

  • 2.81” frame depth allows our hoppers to mull to our 100 Series Horizontal Sliding and Single Hung Windows, as well as integrate into our 4.5” 600 Series Window Wall.
  • Hoppers hinge at the bottom and swing in. They are available in widths from 14” to 60”, and heights from 14” to 48”, with a max overall size of 15 square feet.
  • Hoppers make excellent transom or clerestory windows and can be operated with an extension pole when equipped with an optional ring pull latch lock.
  • The sash is mounted to the frame with two concealed four-bar hinges and is secured with one or two cam handle locks.
  • Windows up to 48” in width have one lock in the center. When the width is greater than 48” there will be two locks mounted at quarter points.
  • Hoppers are not rated for performance and should only be used in a protected condition.

Series 700 Awning Features - Western Window Systems

  • 2.81” frame depth allows our casements to mull to our 100 Series Horizontal Sliding and Single Hung Windows, as well as integrate into our 4.5” 600 Series Window Wall.
  • Awnings hinge at the top and swing out. They are available in widths from 21” to 60” and heights from 14” to 48”, with a max overall size of 15 square feet.
  • It is very common to use multiple awnings side-by-side or to insert them into our 600 Series Window Wall to provide ventilation in large expanses of glass.
  • The sash is mounted to the frame with two concealed four-bar hinges and is controlled with a heavy duty single-arm roto operator.
  • 700 Series Awnings can also be supplied with optional motorized operators to facilitate use in areas difficult to reach, or for your convenience in opening and closing multiple units.
  • Operating hardware includes a folding crank that is painted to match the finish color of the window frames.

Series 700 Fixed Features - Western Window Systems

  • The Series 700 fixed windows have a very clean, flush glazed appearance.
  • They can stand alone or in combination with any of the operable window types (casement, awning, hopper, etc.).
  • The fixed window has been tested and is certified at F-C55, up to a size of 60” x 120”. The F-C55 equates to a design pressure of 55 pounds-per-square foot, the equivalent of 145 MPH.
  • Series 700 Fixed windows are available in segs (an eyebrow) and standing segs (and eyebrow with vertical legs).
  • Series 700 Fixed Windows are also available in a true semi-circle configuration where the height is equal to the radius.
  • All fixed windows are limited to a radius of 18”.

Thermal Break - Western Window Systems

For harsher environments, we offer “Thermal Break” technology on both our frame and panels. Using cutting-edge pour and de-bridged aluminum extrusions, a strong urethane material with low thermal conductivity connects the frame material together while reducing heat or cold transfer. This protective barrier lowers u-factors, limits condensation, increases energy performance and, most of all, reduces thermal conductivity. By offering our customers innovative solutions to extreme temperatures, high humidity and intensely hot or cold weather are neutralized by use of Western's thermally broken material and makes our products a great choice for any climate. This technology also helps reinforce Western's green theme of sustainability and ensures that our customers save money on their utility bills while lowering their total carbon footprint.

Aluminum Frame Finishes - The Volume Program

Whether anodized or painted, we can generally match any color you’d like to use for your window and door products. On top of unlimited color options, Western uses the highest quality finishes available today. For painted products, nearly all of Western’s colors and finishes conform to a minimum rating of AAMA-2605 (which is the highest rating available for organic finishes today). For anodized product our Dark Bronze and Satin anodized finishes receive a Class 1 rating (which is the highest and most durable rating available for anodized aluminum finishes). Dark Bronze anodized is our most popular finish and has the best price point and production lead time. The other colors shown below are examples of Western “designer” colors which are available for a discounted price over a custom color match. These colors are for representation only. Please contact your nearest dealer or dealer representative for a full color sample list of our aluminum frame finishes and designer colors.

Western also offers our “Edge Guard” painted finish for customers that are within a few miles of the ocean. This upgrade option is a strong investment in protecting your products from potential corrosion caused by salt water. This custom finishing procedure involves Western fabricating and processing all of the components associated with your window and door package before sending the metal to be painted. By painting pre-fabricated parts (instead of cutting and processing parts after they have been painted), the “Edge Guard” process ensures that there are no raw aluminum edges left unfinished and, instead, sees all aluminum edges painted with the same high-quality finish that was used on the rest of the project. An upgrade to “Edge Guard” provides the additional benefit to customers of a 10-year warranty.

Please note that while Satin Anodized finishes are very popular, as a consumer you must be aware of the many limitations and imperfections of this finish option. By selecting and ordering this finish you are acknowledging your approval and acceptance of our satin anodized disclaimer.

Aluminum Woodgrain Finishes - Western Window Systems

Another popular choice for exterior aluminum frame finishes include our aluminum wood grain powder coat finishes. Each of these various powder coat options meet AAMA 2604 specifications and come in a variety of species and stain colors. The finishes shown below are for representation only. Please contact your nearest dealer or dealer representative for actual samples or more information.

Hardware - Western Window Systems

Operating hardware for 700 Series Awnings and Casements includes a folding crank handle and a concealed multi-point locking system actuated by an attractive low-profile lever handle. The hardware finish is always painted to match the color of the window frame. Hopper windows can be operated with an extension pole when equipped with an optional ring pull latch lock.

Glass - Western Window Systems

Western’s 700 Series Casements, Awnings and Hoppers are designed to accommodate Duo-Pane Insulating glass manufactured with a ½” air gap to maximize the benefit of high performance Low E. They can also be glazed with a variety of glass types, colors and configurations in thickness from 3/16” to 1” Duo-Pane.

Screens - Western Window Systems

All hinged windows (Casements, Awnings and Hoppers) are provided with insect screens with frames finished to match the window frame color. Uniquely designed concealed spring clips are used to retain the screen without drilled holes or exposed fasteners. The screens are wired with a charcoal-colored, vinyl-coated fiberglass mesh that is resistant to damage and is almost transparent when viewing through the window. Since 700 Series casements and awnings swing out, the screens are mounted to the interior. Hoppers, which swing in, require them to be mounted to the exterior.
